Meet the diverse and endearing cast of kitties, humans and nutrias who populate Pasha's world.

Pasha: A furry black kitty with golden yellow eyes and a hint of a beard, who begins as a playful, clumsy, and pompous barn kitty in rural Louisiana. Blessed with what his father, King, calls "privilege and destiny," Pasha lacks the discipline to be the next great leader of the barn kitties. One day he will have return to the barn to lead, so he knows he’d better be ready. 
 

Lola: Introduced as a wild, high-energy pink kitty with huge eyes, she emerges from the slimy depths of a Louisiana swamp. A master of the terrain from a young age, she  effortlessly outmaneuvers alligators and nutria and frolicks through the bayou. Brimming with fierce independence, Lola establishes playful dominance by jumping onto Pasha's head and challenging him to a roaring match. 

Topaz: A glamorous, dark-haired dancer who dresses in glistening, opulent Ottoman-era Turkish attire, fashioned from local New Orleans Mardi Gras beads. Although Topaz was raised Cajun, deep in the bayou, she identifies with her great grandfather, a cat-loving Turkish pasha who brought a boatload of instrument-playing kitties to Louisiana. Topaz  dreams of  visiting Turkey and following the footsteps of her great-grandfather.

Manon: This beautiful Creole-African American cowgirl and miniature horse farm owner,  sports a distinct country-glam style, with her jeweled cowboy hat,  sparkly belt, and a pair of rhinestone laden cowboy boots. Manon is a fearless, practical young country woman who navigates the swampy trails of rural Louisiana in a vintage red pickup truck and adeptly wrestles alligators.

Rae: A pale, scrawny 19-year-old androgynous youth with curly pink hair and huge glasses, introduced as trying to find a bus to New Orleans. Rae views life through their phone lens. Where others see property damage and chaos (like cats destroying pillows and squirting hot glue), Rae understands the value of online cat videos and sees a viral goldmine.

King: Leader of the barn kitties, King comes from a long line that originally came from Turkey to Louisiana, by boat with an exiled pasha. He believes himself to be a special breed, and that his son should follow in his footsteps. After he sends his son away to "the school of hard knocks," he grows old and sick, and a pair of belligerent nutrias lead his constituents astray.   

Mr. Swindell: The primary human antagonist. An evil slumlord and ruthless developer, transplanted from California. When his fortunes fade, he transforms into an online troll. A hurricane destroys his computer and he loses his mind. Powerless, he resorts to roaming the swamps impersonating a dreaded rougarou (swamp werewolf.)

Barfi & Narfi: A pair of foliage-gobbling, environment-destroying nutrias who wear fake kitty ears to exploit the barn kitties, fomenting hate and division. They serve as Pasha's ultimate comic and narrative foils.
 
Donna: A cranky grandma with a Cajun accent she is married to Alvin, a touring Zydeco musician. Donna resents that he is always gone and in the spotlight, while she is stuck at home. Her daughter (who is not in the film) works on an offshore oil rig and rarely calls home. Donna takes care of her headstrong granddaughter, Amelie. Donna lives on Manon's property.
 
Amelie: When the story begins, she is six years old. By the end, she is eight. Amelie is free to roam in her rubber shrimp boots, fishing, playing with the barn kitties and collecting wild animals to bring home, much to her grandmother, Donna's dismay.
 
Alvin: Amelie's charismatic grandfather and Donna's husband. He is a locally famous African American-Creole Zydeco musician who spends a lot of time touring.
